Events are essentially preset scheduled reminders. You can add Events to Companies or Contacts, and you will be notified when a scheduled Event comes around. This might be a lunch meeting with a Lead, a presentation for a Company’s board of directors, a follow-up phone call with a Lead, etc. If it is a specific related to a Company or Contact that needs to occur at a certain time/date, it can be created as an Event.
